Kids have better scary rituals to play with, nowadays...

Did Bloody Mary, once. Hung out a couple of times in a late night cemetery. Maybe more like half-a-dozen. Visited a house or two that was used for "devil worship". Stood under a hanging tree. All in all, not a whole lot of options for getting my good-and-afeared on. That's why watching this video about creepy[pasta] rituals, [warning, about 40 minutes, total] made me a little sad. Where was my The Elevator Game? Ok, so I grew up in an area without—essentially—elevators, but you get the point? I write horror stories about stuff like The Elevator Game. I didn't realize the cool kids were actually trying it.

Ok, so not all of those are creepypastas, and not all are rituals, but it still makes for a fun watch. For those curious, the covered "rituals" are:

• The Dark Reflection Ritual (*) - break a mirror and make it through a night of bad luck to get lots of good luck
• The Holders - Not really sure, but apparently there are a hidden artifacts you can find that give you power...or death
• The Raven Man (*) - summon A Raven Man and ask him questions
• Protection Against Ubume - protect newborns from Ubume, neither creepypasta nor a ritual, but fun for those who like yokai, I guess
• Tulpa - not exactly a ritual, not creepypasta, but basically you summon something into existence through mental will (see: Tulpa
• The Elevator Ritual (!!) - Ride an elevator to a dark, shadowy world
• The Three Kings Ritual (!) - Get a glimpse of the Shadow-world by setting up mirrors, chairs, and a number of items just right
• Macbeth - Say the word in a theater...for reasons...
• The Black Phone Ritual (!) - a kind of fun technophobia marred by a long list of phone numbers...
• The Bath Game (!!) - Take a bath in the dark, and then play cat-and-mouse with a one-eyed ghost
• Bloody Mary - You know it, but warning...they get Mary and Bathory mixed up in the description
• Protection Against Kuchisakeonna - Not a ritual nor creepypasta, but the slit-mouth woman is pretty cool
• The Devil's Game (*) - summon the devil and then ask some questions
• The Midnight Game (!!) - Summon someone to play hide and seek with you, but don't let the candle go out
• Hide and Go Seek, Alone (!!) - One of my faves, but yet another way to summon something play hide and seek with you

Those marked with a "*" are those that I find the ritual aspect kind of neat, but wouldn't consider super exciting. Those with "!" are those that I find kind of fun. Those with "!!" are ones that I really wish I tried as a kid. Or a slightly less blasé adult. Well, not that I'm blasé, just...you know...screw it, let's go find a ten story building with an elevator!
