Et Tu, NPR.com? Their probing article into Bacon as a Gateway Meat for Vegetarians

I don't check CNN.com or Foxnews.com. I recently vowed off of news.Yahoo.com. One of the last refuges of news for me was NPR.com. Today, though, one of their big articles?

And sure, I'm being a little overzealous in decrying NPR's article. A single fluff piece says nothing about a slow descent into immature faux news madness (not a dig at Fox specifically, by the way, but all the MSNBCs and other so-called news-outlets that are desperate to fill their 24 hour quotas and translate that into a desperation to generate the greatest number of page views over vapid comment). But it does include such lines as "He also told us he had an ex-girlfriend who became an ex-vegetarian once she tasted bacon," and "This wasn't the first time she'd encountered it sizzling there, in all its glistening glory. But for some reason, this time it overpowered her. She was guilty yet gleeful when she told us that she'd allowed bacon back into her life." Guh. I'm going to chuck this article up to Digg bait and leave it at that.

For other NPR reported news about Food, try their in depth coverage of Taco Bell's new publicity stab. Or not. I'll see you on BBC News Worldwide.
